Named for its crescent like shape, Crescent Beach State Park is a welcoming place to spend those warm summer days in southeastern Maine. The park is located along Cape Elizabeth and just south of Portland. Open to all from Memorial Day through Columbus Day. Visitors enjoy Crescent Beach State Park in Maine for many reasons. You can easily set up camp on its soft sandy shore. Its waters are pleasant and calm. Few small waves are fantastic for playing and swimming. The park also has a series of sand dunes as well as a shaded area with wandering trails and picnic areas, equipped with tables and grills. A bathhouse and showers make it easy for families to spend the entire day at the beach. Fishermen and boaters can also enjoy the park. A boat launch is located within the park, but you need a permit to use it. Wildlife enthusiasts will enjoy bird watching as thousands of herring gulls call Crescent Beach home. A local lighthouse draws many a visitor to the state park as well.
