Scarborough Marsh is a salt marsh of more than 3,000 acres, and is home to breeding Saltmarsh Sharp-tailed, Nelson's Sharp-tailed, and Seaside sparrows to name just a few. There are a multitude of activities to enjoy at the Scarborough Marsh Audubon Center located near Scarborough, Maine. Open during the warm summer months, the area offers a Nature Center, a variety of self-guided and interpretive nature walks, canoe tours, and various exhibits.

This is definitely a family friendly educational experience. Trained naturalists lead all of the guided programs. There are specially designed programs for all age groups. You can arrange for a walking tour or rent a canoe and take a canoe tour. Kayaks are also available. Floating leisurely down the Dunstan River provides a unique view of the habitat of the salt marsh.

You will be able to see wildlife and plants and be exposed to the many animals that call the salt marsh home including snowy egrets and mummichogs. You do not have to be an experienced paddler to enjoy this tour.

To participate in a canoe or kayak tour at least one person in the group must be 18 years or older and children must be at least 4 years old. No dogs are permitted.

You can also enjoy early morning bird watching. Many specialty programs are available. Check ahead to determine dates, times and fees.
