Portland Maine Airport
Portland International Airport (PWM) began as a flying enthusiast private airfield. Late in the 1920’s, Dr. Clifford Strange created a landing strip on his Portland land to accommodate his private plane, a Curtiss Jenny. Soon thereafter, additional grass runways were added that attracted other pilots. From that early start, the Airport now serves nearly 1.4 million passengers each year. These passengers fly on modern equipment and enjoy traveling on most of the major airlines. Portland International Airport is a destination airport for many travelers whose final destination is Acadia National Park. more info
