Location
The drive from BIA to Bar Harbor usually takes a little over one hour, but summer traffic can add time to the trip. From the airport take I-95 S a short distance to I-395 E, in the outskirts of Bangor. Take I-395 five miles and merge onto US-1A to Ellsworth. From there follow ME-3 E to Bar Harbor.
Airlines
Allegiant, Delta, and US Airways offer direct daily flights to several cities. The top ten cities Bangor International Airport travelers fly to and from are: Orlando, New York City, Tampa, Atlanta, Ft. Lauderdale, Houston, Charlotte, Chicago, and Washington DC. Currently no scheduled international flights leave BIA.

BIA has three gates in one building. The airport offers free WiFi and has an ATM. Two shops sell gifts, reading materials, and travel amenities. A coffee shop and a lounge provide food and drink.
Getting To/From the Airport
A number of local inns and motels offer free shuttle service to and from the airport. Rental cars are available at the airport.

The Bar Harbor-Bangor Shuttle makes daily trips between Bangor and Bar Harbor.
Bangor Area Transportation Company (BAT) provides scheduled bus service throughout Bangor and the surrounding towns, making frequent stops at the airport.
Concord Trailways runs express bus service between Bangor, Portland, and Boston. The Concord Trailways station is ¾ mile from the airport.
Greyhound buses operate express service between Bangor, Portland, and Boston. Some years Greyhound offers summer service to Bar Harbor. The Greyhound bus station is accessible from the airport by taxi or local bus (BAT).
