Salt Water & Deep Sea Fishing
Acadia National Park is wonderful in the summer, but the beauty of the park is apparent any time of year. Some of the best views of Acadia are to be had from the ocean. Every summer, 3 million visitors flock to Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park. They come to enjoy boat and auto tours or try dramatic hikes to many of the open peaks, which have an expansive view of the ocean. In addition to these activities, there are many opportunities to enjoy the seawater along the coastline by taking a commercial cruise or chartering a commercial fishing boat. This is a great area to try your hand at deep-sea fishing or just to enjoy a little leisurely whale watching.
In the small community located west of Somes Sound, you will find boatbuilding, fishing and lobstering. This is a working community, but still provides for ample opportunity to enjoy the ocean aspects of Acadia National Park.
