If you are planning a trip to Acadia National Park with your children, you will find all types of family fun. The Park has a special summer ranger-led programs for kids ages five to fourteen – when they are accompanied by an adult. The fun part of these programs is that they use the senses to explore all the fascinating places found in the Park like tide pools, pink granite mountains, and coastal forests. The younger members of the family could also become a Park Junior Ranger, which enables the children to learn more about the National Parks and earn a patch, pin and certificate.

Other fun activities in Acadia include biking the historic carriage road, visiting a museum or nature center, walking, or hiking on many of the trails in the area. The Bass Harbor Head Light is a great site as it is one of only a few lighthouses that are accessible by car.

The kids can build a sand castle or go swimming in Echo Lake. There are picnic areas and campfire programs at the park campgrounds. There are a multitude of activities and family fun things to do at Acadia National Park.
