With the 120 miles of hiking trails available in Acadia National Park, there is a trail for every age, skill level and ability. Leisurely walks along the surf are possible as well as steep, more adventurous hikes that allow hardy hikers to scale several Acadia peaks in one trip by using the connecting trails.

Between 1915 and 1933, John D. Rockefeller, Jr. directed and financed the building of fifty-five miles of carriage roads, which form the main network of woodland roads for hikers, bicyclists, horseback riders and carriages.

Great hiking trails include many of the roads south of Jordan Pond, the Green Mountain Railroad and the Great Head.
