Although most anglers agree that the fishing is fair to poor, especially during the months of July and August, the scenery in Acadia National Park is worth the trip. You can try fresh water and fly-fishing in many of the bodies of fresh water within the Park. more info

If you decide to go freshwater fishing in Acadia National Park, it is important to obtain a Maine state fishing license, as it is required. If you are a Maine resident sixteen years or older or a non-resident twelve years or older, a fishing license is required for freshwater fishing only. If you plan only a short vacation in the area, as a non-resident, you can purchase a license for shorter periods in many of the community offices and some of the local businesses.

Because of the limited availability of sources for drinking water on Mount Desert Island, be sure to be aware of and read any postings prior to casting out your line. Long Pond, Eagle Lake, Jordan Pond, Bubble Pond and Upper and Lower Hadlock Ponds are part of the Mount Desert Island drinking water supply, and have stringent regulations. Grand Lake Stream is a great place to try out your fly-fishing skills.
