Wiscasset Village is the southern most location on the Maine Coast Railroad route. From here you can travel in restored rail coaches along the bank of the Sheepscot River and through marshes and tidal preserves. You will see abandoned historic train trestles and the remains of a busy harbor.
When you arrive at Sheepscot Station, you will note that here is a replica of the original train station, an engine house/car shop and a small yard. Stand on the wooden platform and wave to passengers on the train or wait expectedly to board.
The trips on the Maine Coast Railroad are narrated and include a light lunch and beverages. You can arrange for a special tour for individuals or groups. Various packages are available.
