There are no emergency medical services within Acadia National Park; however first aid help is available. Mount Desert Island Hospital is located in Bar Harbor, Maine. It is a modern, 49 bed medical facility that provides 24 hour emergency and cardiac care. Mount Desert Island Hospital provides intensive care, respiratory services, and laboratory services.

Bar Harbor also has several medical facilities staffed by doctors that provide general medical care to specialties such as family health, orthopedics, dermatology and mental health.
