Corvettes, like many car types, are a passion for many drivers and non-drivers of all ages.  The states of Maine and New England and the Canadian eastern coastal provinces have varied chapters, including the Vettes of Coastal Maine, with numerous clubs, events and activities for all car lovers.

Established in the late 70’s, the Vettes of Coastal Maine was founded to bring together diverse groups of Corvette lovers from across the Kennebec Valley, stretching across the southern and middle of the state.  They are mainly a social type group where friends gather to enjoy their love of Corvettes and participate in events and activities that encourage a better understanding of the cars, get specialized information and technical type help and share Corvette stories and varied resources.

The Vettes of Coastal Maine season for cruising starts early in the year with a yearly weekend gathering at the start of June.  Hundreds of generations of Corvettes are brought to Maine, setting up displays in scenic Bar Harbor.  The event includes a cruise through the Acadia Region, visiting Acadian National Park, local villages and towns and stopping for social meals and shopping.  Though the main purpose of the event is purely pleasure, the funds gathered go towards helping varied Maine charities.

Vettes of Coastal Maine members, families and friends travel across the state for short type trips, taking advantage of the summer months.  However, they hold other events during the colder months, including visits to museums, bowling, snow tubing, sleigh rides, restaurant gatherings and varied potluck dinner meetings at member homes.

The Vettes of Coastal Maine enjoy not just their passion for Corvette cars, but a social group that has common interests.  Visitors are welcome to watch as the long convoy of cars chugs down varied town and village roads and to stop and chat with Corvette car owners at the varied stops along the way.  Visitors can glean information about the cars and participate in fund raising events with their families and friends.  In fact, many Vettes of Coastal Maine events and activities are done by donation only, though special dinners and meets cost a minimal amount per ticket.

Participating in Vettes of Coastal Maine cruises requires membership.  Membership is available online and can be obtained for a minimal amount annually.  All proceeds go to setting up varied Vettes events and activities, as well as maintaining the organization website.

To find out more information about varied Vettes of Coastal Maine events, the organization website has a calendar and details about locations.  Everyone is welcome to get involved and it is no surprise that participants and spectators alike include singletons, couples, retirees, people of walks of life and social status and even children.
